Russia Proves To Be Strong In Poker

Online poker is taking the world by storm, with a special thanks to the overall huge and growing popularity of poker in general at this point in time. Knowing the power of reach that online poker has PartyPoker.com was smart to organize the St. Petersburg Open Poker Tournament to help solidify the popularity of the pastime in the east.

the tournament was a raging success in the Russian setting ,and also produce the largest win in Russian history with the $84,000 jackpot that a twenty-seven year-old Moscow player was able to rake in. the whole thing went down at the St. Petersburg Golden Garden Casino where the total prize pool went as high as $500,000 over the course of the four day tournament.

But what the online poker site was the most fascinated by was the fact that out of the six individuals who made it to the final table none of them had qualified via an online poker room. Also out of the several nationalities that were represented there was only one British finalist and all the rest were Russians. This is interesting to the online poker room about the potential of the vodka infused nation, "We're delighted to be involved with an event that boasted the biggest prize in Russian poker history and congratulate Peter on his win. For the first time in a long time none of the internet qualifiers made the final table. This alone suggests that Russia could be a poker superpower in the future."
