Holy Crap! Can I say, Thank the the Las Vegas casino gods or what! Cirque du
Soleil, the strip's entertainment darling is coming out with yet another
theatrical circus experience, only this time they are teaming up with the music
of the Fab Four and bringing a freshness and modernly abstract take on their
usually stunning visual displays. the new production will be hosted by the
Mirage Las Vegas casino and begin its run in the June of this summer.
Fans of the Beatles and Cirque "come together.." to celebrate a vibrant
and hopeful performance collaboration that is sure to make a mark for itself on
the increasingly crowded Las Vegas strip theatre circuit. the show will be
comprised of one hundred and thirty different Beatles songs but no actually
physical representations of John, Paul, George, or Ringo. the crater decided to
go in the direction of more abstract representations of what the songs invoke to
the listener,
"We dreamed how would we treat 'Eleanor Rigby'? How would we treat Sgt. Pepper?
How would we go into 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds'? How would we please the
Beatles' fans by doing a show with the Beatles, without the Beatles? And we
decided to proceed by evocation."
the collaboration began in 2002 began with the close friendship between Guy
Lalibarte and the late Beatle, George Harrison, and later blossomed out of the
conception stage into a full fledge artistic project. But the main motivation
for those involved was to create a meaningful evocation of the Beatle's message
via their music,
"the whole idea behind what we did with the music was to try and make people
listen again as opposed to taking the songs for granted. We wanted it to
be like a performance again for the Beatles, and not just playing CDs." I can
guarantee that I myself am going to be clamoring to see this show come my next
stop in to the land of Las Vegas casinos.
