Mainstream companies are becoming more and more aware of the huge amount of
money to be made in the world of online gaming. What at first was being
approached as an adolescent diversion, the big communication companies that were
simultaneously realizing the importance of updating the technology, are also
noticing the trend toward online gaming as a full standing industry of its own.
AT&T is one of those companies that has been laboriously trying to make the
transition for antiquated phone company to information and technology power
presence. Much of the success of this transformation is due to their merge with
a far reaching internet server in the southern California region and enlivened
the older companies ability to adapt to the rapidly changing horizon of
internet, not to mention online gaming.
Now AT&T is prepared to put its online gaming interest into over drive by
creating network support designed specifically for online gaming, "We've
invested over US$300 million during the past several years," says on AT&T
representative. they know that in order to maintain a strong presence they will
need to invest the required technology to ensure quality transmissions without a
hitch, "if a problem with the network occurs and we drop thousands of users
playing a game, those users won't come back and play that game."
