South Africa Struggles to Regulate Online Casinos

Even with South Africa having an expressed  restriction on online casinos and internet gambling as a whole, the region is still believed to have a considerable percentage of its population gambling at online casinos. the real trouble for the the South African government in enforcing their laws prohibiting online casino activity is the fact that they have no means to determine exactly how many people in their jurisdiction are participating in online casino gambling.

the manager of Piggs Peak Online Casino, Wendy Graaf, says that the popularity of online casinos are most likely due to the convenience, ease, and wide selection of games that are available on the internet. the loophole being utilized by the majority of the online casinos is the one that relates to where exactly and in what country the online casino server is placed. Piggs Peak Online Casino is currently in court debating their legalities even though they are based inn Swaziland, where online casinos are legal.

Like many online casinos that are based in a country where online gambling is legal but is still running into trouble with the law, Piggs Peak allegedly receives players from areas that do not prohibit online casinos and their activity.  Especially in  the case of South Africa where the internet in general is growing extremely quickly yet, is as of yet rather unregulated, the population has free rang on activities that might otherwise be considered illegal.
