A Task for the Red Wizard
the Story
the Red Wizard, Tarnius (Tolkien
forgets to mention this guy) approaches you.
"Welcome captain. the leader of your nation... it seems has
decided to let you prove your proficiencies. I must remember
to thank that one on our next meeting. I see you have
gathered the forces necessary for the mission at hand. All in
the name of your people. Cultivate your force for soon you
will have need of a much larger army. the enemy is at hand.
“To start here is a quest of dignified cause. Recover the
lost books of Eridoriadum. It is said two Trolls guard these
among their treasure. This map will show you the way. I will
send a messenger to gather the book and guide you to your next
quest. Now make haste, the time is short.”
Overview
You force must retrieve the treasure from the troll
sisters. the sisters are not getting along right now, so
will be in separate parts of the caves (at least 12" apart).
the trolls will not move until they see the intruders or the
other troll enters battle. Aaron will bring or I will
borrow his caverns. We'll have plenty for up to 4 games,
maybe more.
Players will be separated into partners and each player will
take turns playing the trolls while the other enters the caves
with his or her forces. We may start with a practice
game for everyone to refresh the rules. the encounter is
purposely short to facilitate this.
Army size
150 points (need
to purchase your captain with this)
+10 for all figures in the army painted (relatively few
proxies)
+10 for bringing a one or more painted Cave Trolls
Special Rules
Included above. No mounted figures in caves.
You can purchase mounts in future encounters.
Mounted figures allowed - these are tall caves the trolls live
in (we won't always be so nice... my precious).
While there should be rules for darkness or torchlight for
simplicity I am skipping those this round.
Campaign Rewards
A surviving victorious captain will find a special
enchanted weapon giving them Strength +1... be careful not all
is always as it seems.
Route - 0 Cave Trolls fall
- you call in on a favor, your last, replenish your dwindled forces with
100 points
Draw - 1 Cave Troll falls
- you empty your remaining funds to regroup and rebuild, add 80 points
Victory - 2 Cave Troll heads, one in
each hand
- enchanted weapon and the books
- your deeds travel far, refresh your forces with 50 points
Maximum army size after First Encounter
- 200 (220 with painted army)
