Summary
Stu's Phoenix had the best
overall strategy or at least the one that worked. Two
units of Earth Elements were enough to slow the other two
combatants from charging the hill. As both the speedy
Unicorn and the gett'a-long Shadow Horde made it to within
8" of the center hill base these little dirtballs hopped
out of the hillside. Meanwhile back at the outhouse, the
rest of his units are plugging away towards becoming
"King of the Mountain". Not a single fireball
left his finger tips. You must understand this is Stu's
trademark attack. In the end Tsumai's Legion sat on top
and center. As it sometimes happens with units, the Fire
Dragon was left twiddling his thumbs. 1 VP from the
Unicorns and 3 campaign moves for the center. Gained two
new territories.
the Unicorn Way and the Aaron
way: his plan was simple. First to the top. But
yet again his opponents spoiled the path. All possible
movement modifiers were poured onto his hill-ignoring horses,
as they ran headlong into the Earth. His units were able
to flank this very quickly, but poor rolls by the Unicorn and
good rolls by the Phoenix made this combat last the entire
battle. Shugenjas and even more Shugenjas slowed
everyone down with Torrential Rain. Three times.
the two units of cavalry and unit of Earth Elements clogged up
the base his hill. A lone group did travel through the
woods and rear flack the Hurricanes on the last turn. 2
VPs for all the Earth Elementals, minus the LP, and 1 campaign
move for playing. Gained a single territory.
My Shadowlands horde: Flank and
Fear. I needed more players to create the chaos I had
planned. Instead I had to face my enemy head on.
Another miscalculation was the time to dispose of the Earth
Elements, which I never did, thanks to the darn Rain slowing
my charges and movement down. Eventually, and I mean
eventually, my Fear raising army Broke the Elementals, as we
surrounded them. As a last ditch push, I played Fight
for Position to push onto the upper level of the hill to gain
another campaign move. My army needed A) no rain slowing
my reign of fear and/or B) 2 more turns to dispose and push
center. 2 Vp from the Earth unit and 2 campaign moves
for topping the hill. Rolled two ones to gain no new
territories. Ouch!
6 turns and about 3 hours.
